SOY Academy · MCAT Tutoring

Prepared on the material. Prepared for the day.

Tutors who sat this exam and scored 520+, plus a dedicated mentor for everything around the studying — the plan, the pacing, and the pressure that quietly decides how a student performs on test morning.

No obligation. We start with a diagnostic conversation, not a sales pitch.

Why the score matters

The one number every school compares directly.

Essays and experience are read in context. The MCAT is the single line a committee can hold against every applicant in the country.

Moving from the 506–509 band into 518+ takes the odds of at least one acceptance from roughly 46% to 80% — a swing that holds across GPA levels. It also clears the numeric screen many programs apply before anyone reads your essays, which is what widens the list of schools where applying is realistic.

The honest version: a 95th-percentile score does not guarantee admission, and no one should tell you it does. What it does is remove the number as a reason for rejection, and let the rest of your application be judged on its merits.

The SOY difference

The score isn't only decided by what you studied.

A student can know the material and still underperform. Sleep, stress, workload, and the week before the exam all show up in the score — test anxiety predicts worse performance even after accounting for how a student scored before.1

So every student gets a mentor. Not a second tutor — one person who manages the conditions the studying happens in, and teaches you to manage them.

Sleep and recovery

A sleep floor you actually hold to. Study blocks move earlier when it slips — before the caffeine spiral starts.

Fuel and movement

The first things a stressed student drops, and the first place concentration follows. Both stay in the weekly plan on purpose.

Study vs. overwork

There's a point where more hours subtract score. Falling practice accuracy and dread before sessions are the signals — the plan pulls back.

The rest of your week

Classes, a job, research, family, a commute. We build around the schedule you actually have, not an ideal one.

Test anxiety, worked early

Nerves are rehearsable. Timed full-lengths under real conditions and a reset routine for a bad passage — practiced for months, not discovered on test day.

Test day itself

Wake time, food, travel, what to bring, what to do between sections. Nothing that morning should be a decision you're making for the first time.

How it fits together

Two roles, because they're two different jobs.

Expertise gets you the material; mentorship makes sure you can use it on the day. And a retaker with a strong science background and a first-timer who works twenty hours a week and freezes on CARS need almost nothing in common — so neither gets a copied plan.

Your tutors

Knowledge, taught by a specialist

  • Subject-matched — the right expert for each section, not one generalist for all of them
  • Gaps diagnosed from your practice data, not a generic syllabus
  • Question-level review — why the right answer is right, and why yours was tempting
  • Full-lengths proctored under real test conditions
  • A full breakdown after every practice exam
Your mentor

Readiness, protected by one person

  • Builds the plan, and rebuilds it as scores move
  • Manages the outside factors above — and teaches you to manage them
  • Coordinates your tutors so the sections aren't taught in isolation
  • Check-ins that catch a problem in week three, not week ten
