Common questions
How much does it cost?
The first consult is free — 30 minutes, no commitment. After that: academic tutoring is $80 a session and SAT, ACT, and AP prep is $110, both bookable one session at a time. Packages bring that down — test prep runs $100 a session for 4, $90 for 8, and $80 for the 12-session Complete Program. College counseling and MCAT tutoring are sold as plans instead, starting at $900 and $800. Every price is on the card before you click, and the card price is what you pay.
What is The Mentor?
A tutor closes the gap in the material. The Mentor works on everything around it — study habits and skills, finding the right resources, and walking into test day with a plan. You can add The Mentor to smaller SAT/ACT and MCAT packages for about 20% of the package price (for example, +$80 on 4 SAT hours or +$160 on the 5-session MCAT Starter). It's included at no charge in the SAT Complete Program, the MCAT Advanced and Comprehensive packages, and every college counseling plan.
What happens after the Complete Program?
You keep the rate. Students who finish the 12-hour Complete Program can add another 8 hours at $80 an hour ($640, Mentor still included) by rebooking within 30 days of their last session. Email us and we'll send the renewal link.
What if I need to cancel or reschedule?
You can reschedule or cancel up to 24 hours before your session using the link in your confirmation email. For changes inside 24 hours, just email us and we'll do our best to accommodate.
Can you guarantee a score increase?
No, and be careful with anyone who does. Until we've seen a diagnostic we don't know where your student is starting from, so any number we quoted you today would be made up. What we will do is tell you after the first few sessions what a realistic goal looks like — and if we don't think we're the right fit, we'll say that too.
What should my student bring to a session?
Just whatever they're currently working on — a textbook, an assignment, or a topic they want help with. For online sessions, a laptop or tablet with a stable connection works best.
Who are the tutors?
Five mentors, every one listed by name on the tutor directory with their degree, subjects, hours taught, and real availability — four are currently at UVA School of Medicine. Pick one yourself, or book the consult and we'll recommend one.
Is tutoring online?
Yes — every session is online. Your student works with the tutor best suited to their subject and goals, regardless of where you live.
