SAT, ACT, or AP — your first question shouldn't be "where do we even start?"
Tutors who scored at the top of these tests themselves, strategy built for the exact exam your student is taking, and an optional mentor for everything around the studying — explained in plain English before we ever talk about packages.
No obligation. We start with a conversation about your student, not a sales pitch.
Three different tests. Three different ways to prepare.
The SAT and ACT both changed recently, and AP exams are tied to a specific course. Most parents booking us for the first time never took these versions — here's the shape of each, in plain terms.
The three tests at a glance
What each one is, and what preparing for it actually involves.
Digital and adaptive. Two sections — Reading & Writing, then Math — each split into two modules. How a student does on the first module decides whether the second is harder or easier.
Shortened in 2025. English, Math, and Reading make up the 1–36 composite; Science is now an optional add-on section scored separately. Fewer questions means pacing matters differently.
A final exam for a college-level high school course, usually multiple choice plus free response. Scores of 3 and above can earn college credit or placement at many colleges.
Sources: College Board (SAT structure; AP scores) and ACT, Inc. (enhanced ACT).
Not sure which test matters? That's one of the most common questions we get. Many colleges accept either the SAT or the ACT, and the better fit often depends on how a student tests — the adaptive SAT and the ACT's pacing reward different strengths. AP exams are different again: they follow the course your student is already taking.
The honest version: no one can promise a score before seeing a diagnostic. What the free consult and first sessions do is show where your student stands on the test that actually matters for them — and what a realistic goal looks like from there.
A score isn't only decided by what a student studied.
A student can know the material and still underperform. Sleep, stress, and the week before the test all show up in the score — test anxiety predicts worse performance even after accounting for how a student scored before.1
That's what The Mentor is for: one person who manages the conditions the studying happens in, and teaches your student to manage them.
Sleep and pacing
A study schedule that doesn't eat into sleep — and pulls back when a student is running on empty.
Habits that outlast the test
A study routine a student can run on their own — useful long after test day.
Confidence when a score dips
Practice scores go up and down. A dip is information, not a verdict — and a student needs to hear that.
The parts no one explains
SAT or ACT, registration and test dates, whether to retake, and what colleges actually see.
Test anxiety, worked early
Timed full-lengths under real conditions and a reset routine for a bad question — practiced for weeks, not discovered on test day.
Test day itself
Wake time, breakfast, what to bring, what to do at the break. Nothing that morning should be a first-time decision.

Two roles — and we're upfront about which one is optional.
Every package includes tutoring. The Mentor is an add-on, because not every student needs it — a student three weeks from a retake mostly needs sessions. It's included free on the 12-session Complete Program.
Your tutor
- Diagnoses the real gap in a student's thinking, not just which answer was wrong
- Strategy for the specific test — the SAT's adaptive modules, the ACT's pacing, an AP course's free response
- Official-style practice, reviewed question by question
- A score goal set after a real diagnostic, not promised in a sales call
Your mentor
- Builds the habits and study routine that outlast any one test
- Keeps confidence intact when a practice score dips
- Handles the logistics — which test, registration, test dates, what colleges see
- Gets a student to test-day morning steady, not just "ready on paper"
