Most students imagine medicine as one job. It is dozens. Physicians from different specialties, including those who practice in community settings, talk about what their days actually look like, who their patients are, and the path that brought them there, with time for your questions. Come with a specialty you’re curious about and leave with two more you hadn’t considered.
What we’ll cover:
A day in the life — Each panelist walks through a real recent day: the hours, the patients, the parts they’d never give up.
Community medicine, up close — What it means to practice where the need is, in clinics, schools, and neighborhoods, and why some physicians choose it over everything else.
How they chose — The moments in medical school and residency that pointed each of them toward their specialty, including the wrong turns.
What they wish they’d known at twenty — Advice for undergraduates on exposure, mentors, and keeping an open mind.
Open questions — Lifestyle, training length, cost, burnout, and anything else you’ve been wondering.
Questions:
Who will be on the panel? — We’re inviting physicians across primary care, hospital-based, and community settings. Names will be posted here once confirmed.
Can I talk to panelists afterward? — Yes. We’ll keep the room for a while after the panel ends so you can introduce yourself.
Is this only for pre-med students? — No. Anyone curious about what physicians actually do is welcome.
